Renee Saunders Parr, 30, was a first grade teacher at Mechanicsville Elementary School who passed away Monday from cardiac arrhythmia. The community has been mourning her death along with her 3-year-old daughter Avery and her husband Zach. Parr was 14 weeks pregnant with a second child.
Parr was renowned for her caring nature and outgoing spirit with her young students and with the members of the Atlee High School cheerleading team whom she coached. One of her most inspiring moments involved the contribution of Cheerios to her students after noticing that many of her students were coming to class hungry.
This simple act of kindness reemphasizes how incredibly compassionate teachers can be when it comes to helping their students.
Parr demonstrated that there was more to being a teacher than instructing the students, it was also about ensuring their happiness and comfort within a classroom. Teachers like Parr are truly an inspiration to young students and young adults for their unwavering kindness and their determinism to ensure the well-being of their students.
