So how does one exercise without going to the gym?
The appropriate response is normally "You can do anything for exercise".
One of the best forms of exercise one can do within the confines of their own home or apartment is simply walking up and down the stairs. This works the legs and the abdomen after several rounds of going up and down the incline. To add a bit more to this, take two dumbbells varying from 5-15 lbs and commence going up and down the stairs.
If this feels to be too much, simply use the dumbbells to walk around the living room or kitchen, and ensure your arms are in normal the walking motion. This will work out your arms and your back.
Running in the Virginia summer heat is definitely ill advised, but there are times in the day where going for a simple run will be beneficial. Early in the morning around 5 or 6 and in the evening around 8 or 9. Temperatures aren't exactly cool, but they are better than the heat of the day.
Resorting to the last form of free exercise, going for a long walk around the neighborhood or street is always beneficial. Walks are normally better during the mid-morning or early evening times.
